Purple Flag Places -
VICTORIA - WESTMINSTER
The Victoria BID has a true eclectic mix of businesses within its geographical boundary and is home to a wealth of historical treasures such as Buckingham Palace and The Queens Gallery and of course we have the Houses of Parliament on the cusp of our boundary which attracts attention from the national and international stage.
Victoria has seen many changes over recent times. It was once considered as just a transport hub, and therefore a thoroughfare or gateway to other parts of London, but with new developments reshaping the area all the time, Victoria is fast becoming a focal point of activity, drawing new businesses, tourists and workers into the area, creating an new and exciting atmosphere.
The area currently has a great variety of entertainment, eating out venues and locations to socialise and shop in. These can take you from day time to late night events all within a ten minute radius. Victoria Street itself houses some very well known retail names, ranging from House of Fraser, Boots, and Sainsbury’s to Starbucks, Molton Brown and Marks and Spencer, with millions of pounds being spent each year. Tourists, visitors and local workers are spoilt for choice with an ever growing retail sector that will serve all the needs of the local community.
The way in which the Victoria’s BID team delivers benefits for the whole area, bringing together a variety of agencies to drive the area forward as a place for residents, visitors, businesses and potential businesses, was seen by the Assessors and Accreditation Panel as an outstanding example of what can be achieved in night time economy management.
"We are delighted to be awarded Purple flag as recognition for the great work undertaken to make this part of London a safe, but fun and lively place for all who live, work or visit the area. Victoria is uniquely placed as a significant gateway to London and the world, which has created the bustling and vibrant day and night time economy that we have. Victoria Business Improvement District works in partnership with the Metropolitan and British transport Police as well as Westminster City Council to provide a welcoming and safe vibrant location that people will want to experience again and again."
